Remodeling Contractor San Bernardino

San Bernardino is the closest big city to our shop, straight down the Cajon Pass, and we build there constantly. Older neighborhoods with real character, newer tracts on the north end, and a lot of homes with room to grow. Whatever your house is, we can show you what it can become.

Remodeling in San Bernardino: what's actually on the ground

Every city builds differently and permits differently. Here's what we know about working in this one.

The housing stock

San Bernardino's stock splits sharply by decade. Arrowhead Suburban Farms and the streets north of Highland Avenue hold 1920s-40s bungalows with raised foundations, plaster walls, and original single-pane steel sash. Del Rosa and the 210 corridor are mid-century ranches on wide lots, and the Verdemont and Rosena Ranch edges are 1990s-2000s slab tracts with builder-grade everything.

Where the permits come from

Permits go through the City of San Bernardino Building & Safety Division at the Vanir Tower counter downtown; homes in the county pockets around Muscoy and Devore are handled instead by San Bernardino County Land Use Services. Plan check on a structural addition is the long pole here, so we submit early.

What people hire us for here

The requests we see most: opening the kitchen wall in a 1950s ranch, gutting a single hall bath down to studs, converting a detached garage into a permitted ADU, and repairing the water and termite damage that shows up under old raised floors.

Where we come from

Desert-tested work, built for the San Bernardino Valley

Twenty minutes down the Cajon Pass from where we learned this trade, the conditions change but the discipline does not. San Bernardino gets the same brutal summer heat load we design around in Victorville, with the added weight of valley humidity trapped in older raised-foundation homes and the seismic reality of sitting on top of the San Andreas and San Jacinto systems.

So we frame and fasten the way the desert taught us — hardware where it belongs, ventilation that actually moves air, and materials chosen for expansion and contraction rather than showroom appeal. The finish should still look right in year fifteen, not just on handover day.

The homes of San Bernardino

Knowing how a house was built tells you what it will cost to change. Here's what we run into most across the city.

Mid-century homes north of the 210

Solid framing, generous lots, and floor plans that were closed off by 1960s standards. Opening a wall between the kitchen and the living room transforms these houses, and it is one of our favorite jobs to take on.

Post-war bungalows and cottages

Charming from the curb and usually overdue inside. We modernize baths and kitchens without stripping the character that made you buy the place.

Newer tract homes

Builder-grade finishes that are ready for an upgrade — better cabinets, real tile work, and a primary bath that feels custom instead of standard.

Lots with room for an ADU

Plenty of San Bernardino parcels have space behind the house for a detached unit or a garage conversion. We build them start to finish.

The challenges here

Homes that grew over the years

A lot of what we see was added onto by somebody else. We figure out what was done right, what needs to be corrected, and we tie the new work in cleanly.

Dated systems behind the walls

Older electrical and plumbing show up the moment drywall comes off. We plan for it and quote it honestly rather than pretending it will not be there.

The advantages here

We are already nearby

Being 35 minutes up the hill means our crew is on site early and the job keeps moving — no long-distance contractor scheduling games.

Square footage pays here

A second full bath, a bigger primary suite, or a permitted ADU adds real value to a San Bernardino home.

Start to finish in San Bernardino

From the first inspection of your home to the final inspection by the building department — this is exactly how a project runs.

  1. 01

We walk your home with you

Delshawn meets you at the property in San Bernardino, looks at the space you want changed, and listens to what you actually want out of it. No sales pitch, no pressure — just a builder telling you what is possible.

  2. 02

    A straight estimate

You get a written scope and price that spells out what is included, what is not, and roughly how long it will take. If something is likely to change once walls are open, we say so up front instead of surprising you later.

  3. 03

    Selections and materials

We help you pick tile, cabinets, fixtures, and finishes that fit the house and the budget, then get long-lead items ordered early so the crew is never standing around waiting on a delivery.

  4. 04

    Approvals handled

When the job needs plans, permits, or an HOA sign-off, we take care of the paperwork and the inspections. You should be picking finishes, not sitting at a counter downtown.

  5. 05

    Build with one crew

The same team that started your job finishes it. Site protected, work area cleaned at the end of the day, and a weekly update so you always know what happens next.

  6. 06

    Walkthrough and warranty

We walk the finished space with you, fix anything on the list, and stand behind the work. Most of our San Bernardino jobs come from someone we built for before.

San Bernardino questions we get

Do you take small jobs in San Bernardino?

Yes. A single bathroom, a wall removal, or a drywall and texture repair are all jobs we run regularly. Call us and we will tell you straight whether we are the right crew.

Can you build an ADU on my lot?

In most cases, yes — detached, attached, or a garage conversion. We will walk the property and tell you what fits.
